Wired ad:

Empty wood-grain thought-bubbles appear in one of David's PowerPoint pieces: forms meant to contain content filled with patterns designed as background textures become figures themselves. (In the same spirit I rendered a Frank Stella in PowerPoint woodgrain for the invitation, somehow convincing the director of the Institute that it was relevant because David's approach to PowerPoint recapitulates the Modernist exposure of the medium.) The hypertrophic woodworking motif seemed apt as it's so much at odds both with the digital nature of PowerPoint and with Wired magazine, the talk's sponsor. Fortunately the Wired folks appreciated the irony.
